A REALLY bad morning!!!

I hate to post anything negative, but I'm so upset I have to vent somewhere.  Several years ago, my dear husband upgraded my wedding ring to a glorious ring that I just love.  This morning, as I was running errands, I looked at my ring and .....GASP--the center stone is GONE!  It was a beautiful, substantial marquis stone.  The post, prongs, stone, everything, gone, just a hole in the band where the post used to attach.  I'm just sick about it.  I've retraced my steps and can't find it anywhere.  Those of you who are so inclined, please pray that I can find this.  It has real sentimental value to me!!

Thankful RAK

NOTE:

Hi, everyone,
Well, I'm feeling so blessed and grateful that I decided to do another give-away!  Thank you all so much for your response to my October give-away!!!  I really appreciate you!!

To enter for this one is really simple!!!  Simply post a comment to this post telling me what you are most thankful for!  That's it!!!  Easy peasy!!

What's in the RAK???  This time it will be a surprise!!!  I will use the Random Number Generator  at 9pm Pacific Time on Black Friday to pick the winner.

Good luck, everyone!!!  Let's all count our blessings!!!

UPDATE:  OK.  Here's the first part of the give-away! (I am so excited and terrible at keeping secrets!!) There will be lots more, but thought I would give you a little teaser on  part of what you can win!!

These little stamps are new at M's.  Aren't they just so cute???    I think they will be so handy with the holidays right around the corner!!  I think the angel and the to: from: stamp and the Joy stamp can be used year round.  I just have to add that I am so touched reading  the comments you all have posted!!!  We are all so truly blessed!!

Are you feeling grateful yet??  Sure hope so!!  No matter how bad things get, we all have things to be grateful for!!!  Don't ya think???

OK, enough of that!  I'm ready to reveal the next gift that will be part of the give-away.  I think you'll like this one!!  It is a chipboard wordbook from BoBunny and perfect for this time of year because it spells "BELIEVE"!!  I can just see it all done up for Christmas with peppermint striped papers and pictures!!!  It was hard to get a picture of this one, so I hope this will do.  The size is 6" X 12 ", so it is a big one!!!

OK, so TWO new pics of the candy today!  I'm feeling so generous and inspired from being at Robyn's (The Pink Stamper) live Ustream event today, I decided to post some more of the items I am giving away.  This new pic shows:  12 X 12 K and Company "Life's Journey" Gate fold scrapbook.  Now,  I normally don't give away scrapbooks because lots of the scrapbookers have their favorites that they use, but this one was just so pretty that I had to pick it up to give away.  It is post bound and comes with 20 inserts.  Then, there is an 8-page accordian album in a tin from EK Success, a 128-piece boxed set of punchboard by Heidi Grace, a 20-project Idea Guide from Joann's Craft Essentials, and a package of Silver Foil Christmas Thickers.  WHEW!!!  Keep checking back, because I will be adding more candy as the days go by!!  So, are ya feelin' grateful yet???  I sure am!!  I continue to be inspired and blessed by reading all of your comments.  Life is good!

UPDATE:
Though I haven't been posting pictures, lots of goodies have been added to this RAK since my last post.  I won't type a list of everything here, but there are some chipboard shape albums, a Craft-Lite paper trimmer with changeable blades, and lots of other goodies.  I have had so much fun shopping for goodies for this prize package!!!  Counting down to Friday!!!  Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!!

My FIRST Gypsy file to share!!!

DISCLAIMER:  DO NOT USE THIS LUMINARIA WITH CANDLES THAT HAVE AN OPEN FLAME!  USE ONLY WITH BATTERY OPERATED CANDLES!

This is a VERY simple project, but it is my first Gypsy design that I did all on my own.  Someone else may have already made one of these, but I haven't seen them.   I was inspired to make this after I discovered how expensive the Febreze Luminarias are! This is a luminaria that holds the little battery operated tea lights.  I found them at Dollar Tree, 4 in a package for $1.  I used blue glitter paper and vellum.  I'll post the pics and the gypsy file, then try to explain how to assemble these.

For the Gypsy file, click here.

The assembly is easy, but kind of difficult to explain.  Wish I was a video wiz, but I'm not, so I'll do the best I can.  The file will cut two pieces.  One with two round holes, we'll call this piece section A. This piece will create the base for your luminaria and the tea light holder. The other piece has the snowflake cut-outs.  Feel free to delete those if you wish.  We'll call this piece section B, and it creates the shade for the luminaria.

Starting with section A,  score at 1", 2", 3", 4", 6", 7", 8" and 9".  Your score lines at 2" and 8" will intersect right through the center of the circle cut-outs.  Fold all your score lines.  Apply adhesive to each end.  Starting on the left end, begin folding the score lines toward the center.  This will create 1/2 of a box-type assembly with half of a circle cut out in the top.  Now do the same thing from the right end.  You will now have a box-type piece with a round hole cut out in the center of the top.  This is your tea light holder and the base of your luminaria.  Set this piece aside.

Now for section B, the shade.  Simply score it at 2 1/2", 4 1/2", 7" and 9".  There will be a little flap left at the end.  Fold all your score lines.  Apply adhesive to the small flap and assemble the shade by simply connecting the flap to the other end of Section B.  Slide the shade onto the base and place your tea light inside.

For my sample, I used vellum behind the snowflakes.  This is optional, and you can also replace the snowflakes with whatever design you prefer, or delete the design altogether.

Clear as mud???  I hope you can understand these instructions.  They are really easy to make!  Honest!!!

Have fun!

Maybe a few pics will help!  Hope so.  Any questions, please don't hesitate to email me.  And don't forget to scroll up the page to enter my November give-away!

Febreze Luminarie

Just a simple project for ya today!  I don't even have it embellished yet, but just had to share!!!  I love the look of the new Febreze Luminaries but with my asthma and the strong scents on their shades, they were a no go for me.  My solution???  Make my own shade without the scent!!!  To make your own, you will need a 12 X 12 sheet of cardstock that has the (usually white) border with the designers name or just blank.  K and Company stacks have the white edge that makes the sheet of paper more than 12" on one side.  This is where you will place your adhesive.  Cut your paper crosswise so the white border is on one end of your shade.  Make your shade whatever height you want!!!  Score your shade at 3", 6", 9" and 12", apply your adhesive and you're done!!!  You gotta try it!!!

OK, I'm off to embellish mine!!!  What will YOU make???

OK!  Here's a pic of the completed luminarie.  I just redid our guest bath in a lodge theme and this now sits proudly on a shelf that looks like it is made of logs.  The trees are cut from Winter Woodland at 3".  I sanded and inked the corners and edges with Studio G ink.  Buttons are from Daisy D's.  Ribbon from M's.

NOTE OF CAUTION:  The Febreze luminaries have NO flame or heat source!  They are battery operated units that give the illusion of a flickering candle.  PLEASE do not try this with conventional candles, only the battery operated ones.

My Halloween Treats for Moms and Dads!

On Halloween, normally the only Trick or Treaters we get are friends and family bringing their kids by.  I started a tradition a few years ago of having a special treat for the moms and dads.  Here is what they will be receiving this year.

If you'd like to make your own, you can download my .cut file for the mugs HERE.  You need the George cart to cut these.

Each mug holds a packet of Spiced Cider and a cinnamon stick to stir with.  Paper is from Debbie Mumm's Holiday stack at Joann's.  This project was inspired by several similar projects posted on the Cricut Messageboard.  That board is a constant source of inspiration!

BOO wordbook Pics

Here are some pics of my finished BOO wordbook.  This was made using my .cut file posted in the sidebar.  This wordbook was for a challenge on Whimsical Scraps and Bugs in honor of their one year blog-iversary.   The challenge was to use Orange, Purple and Black, two star cut-outs and one stamped image.  .cut file uses George and Lyrical Letters.  Stars are from George.  Can you say "Candy"?  This book is loaded with a bowl-full of sparkly candy cut-outs.  Paper from K and Company and DCWV.

I have been unable to capture the sparkle and the dimension of this book.  All of the candy cutouts on the book are glittered and each page has multiple layers that are popped up using Stampin Dimensionals.  The Witches hat and shoes are from PC Hugware, Ooga Booga creatables.  Wire from Walmart.  Spider on web stamped image from Michael's $1 bin.  The majority of the papers are glittered papers and in person, this book really sparkles!

Thanks for looking!

Two more wordbooks to share!

I have created .cut files for two more wordbooks. One says "BOO". This wordbook uses George and Lyrical Letters.
The second wordbook says "Give Thanks" and also uses George and Lyrical Letters.

All .cut files are now available in my sidebar.  If you have any problems with these files, please let me know!

Hugs!

Hi, Everyone,
I am ready to share another file. This one is for a wordbook that says "Merry Christmas". The "I" in Christmas is a Christmas tree. You will need George and Winter Woodland to use this file. Let me know how you like it. I haven't cut mine yet. This version has a reindeer on top:

All wordbook files are available in my sidebar.

Eagle Scout Card

Today I made the card to go with the Eagle Scout wordbook so I can get them in the mail tomorrow. This card has a lot of dimension, but you can't tell in the pic. The Scout emblem is from Grand Adhesions. Papers from Michael's.

Cut flies to share

The Eagle Scout wordbook .cut file is available in my sidebar.  There is a George version and a Plantin schoolbook version.

Both .cut files require Stand and Salute for the Eagle image. If you don't have Stand and Salute, you could always remove the Eagle image and still use the .cut file.

Edited to Add: At the request of thekidsmom from the Cricut mb, I have added a wordbook .cut file that says "Cub Scout".

Eagle Scout

Some dear friends of ours have a son who is having his Court of Honor for Eagle Scout in a couple of weeks. We won't be able to attend since they live some distance away, but I wanted to send him something special to commemorate the event. So, I created this word book using Cricut Design Studio, the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and Stand and Salute cartridge. My .cut file is available in the sidebar.

Thanks for looking!! I love comments! Have a blessed day!

Vinyl on my grandsons wall

This is one of MANY vinyl projects completed this week in my step-daughter's home. Her husband's parents are coming for a visit and she wanted to spruce up her house a little. My grandson saw a similar design and asked if I could re-create it for him. This is the result. It is BIG and stretches over the entire top of his closet. The football player was cut fit to page from Sports Mania, lettering is from George and Lyrical Letters using the Jumbo feature.

Where have I been???? I can't believe I just learned about these wonderful criss-cross cards! I have gone criss-cross crazy!!! Anyway, here is a pic of the first one I created for a dear friend who is suffering with shingles. I colored the stamp with Copic markers, the mountains and trees are from the Camp Out cartridge, paper is from DCWV. I used dimensionals to pop up the trees and mountains, along with the fisherman. What do you think??

First round of tests normal!

The results for the first round of tests came in and everything is normal so far! That's good news!! I won't have the rest of the tests until sometime after September 3. That's when I will see the tummy specialist. The even better news is that I am starting to feel better!! Yippee!!! Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes!!! God is SOO good!! The Chronic Fatigue and Fibro have kicked in in a big way, but that's common for me when anything in my system is out of whack. I'm hoping and praying that I wll be able to jump back into creating very soon!!! In fact, I'm hopeful that I will be able to participate in the latest challenges!!!

Have a great week everyone!

Have a great week everyone!

WSAB Animal Challenge

Our challenge this time for WSAB was to create a project using an animal cut from any cartridge. I created this handbag using the giraffe from Animal Kingdom, colored with Copic markers. The red trim is embossed with the Cuttlebug, as are the strap tabs. Animal print paper is from DCWV Safari Chic stack, red flourish is from Home Decor and animal print ribbon for straps is from Michael's. Finished size of handbag is 8" X 8" X 3" and I plan to use it as a gift bag.

Yellow and Black Challenge for SSPT Design Team

I've been so inspired by these paper purses created by others on the Cricut messageboard, particularly Kathy Orta, that I just had to give it a try. What a fun project!! Kathy's tutorials are awesome and if you haven't visited her blog, you really should check it out. (see link in award post below) Anyway, our challenge was to create a project using yellow and black. The black paper has the faux crocodile technique and this is the first time I have attempted that technique. It was fun! The rings are from the curtain department of a local big box store. I embossed the brads to match the rings.

Fruit Challenge for SSPT Design Team

Our challenge this time for the SSPT Design Team was to create a project using fruit. Since this summer season has me in a tropical frame of mind, this is my project. All Cricut cuts are from the LAB cart. It was especially challenging for me because I NEVER use bright colors and I just had to on this card. I also challenged myself not to add any bling to this one and that was really hard!!

Letter "S" Challenge for WSAB

This card is my project for the WSAB Letter "S" challenge. The challenge was to make any project with the letter S as the focal point. This card was a challenge for me partly because I am just a beginner with the Copic markers and used them to color my sweet little fairy. Alphas and top note are from Storybook cartridge.

SSPT Bling challenge

Our most recent challenge for the SSPT design team was to create a project with lots of bling. I think this card "fills the bill". This is my first project using Copic markers and I still have a lot to learn, but it was fun. The image is from www.faeriesong.com. The image was colored with Copics, then I used Stickles, iridescent glitter glue, 4 rhinestones and Prima flowers. The dangling stars were part of a "treasure box" from Lacy Gilbertson. I thought they added the perfect touch to this little fairy.

Mmm Monday Challenge at SSPT

I couldn't get the colors to photograph true on this one. Must have something to do with the black background! Anyway, this is the shopping bag from TBBM, cut at 5 1/2" and the floral spray is from Tinkerbelle, cut at 2 1/2". Black bag, sand background on the floral spray, sage leaves and yellow flowers.

WSAB Summer Color Challenge

This card is my project for the latest Whimsical Scraps and Bugs challenge. We were challenged to make any project using brown, red, yellow, turquoise and white. I'm still fighting a sinus infection and feeling under the weather, but I did manage to get a card made for the challenge. All cuts are from Life is a Beach cartridge.

Good Witch Polka Dot challenge

My bestest friend, Lacy, and I were chatting this morning about cards inspired by wardrobe items like SHOES!!! haha Anyway, this is my submission for the Polka Dot challenge. I combined several of my passions for this card. The "good witch" image is a Loralie Harris machine embroidery design. I embroidered the design, photographed it, then printed it multiple times so I could create dimension. You can't really tell in the pic, but she has 3 layers. The shoe and marquee cuts are from the Wedding Solutions cartridge and the Storybook cartridge, respectively. Polka dot ribbon from Michaels, inked with Tim Holtz Broken China distress ink. Polka dot embossed paper from Big Lots, sanded to reveal the white core. Oh, and the shoe, flowers and ruffle on the dress are "Stickled".

Rusty Hinges Card

Well, I made up my mind today that I just needed to jump in and create something. I had a lot of fun creating the "rusty" hinges for this card! I cut the hinges using Fabulous Finds from brown textured cardstock. Then I inked them with Sepia Ink. Once the ink dried, I added Tim Holtz new Distress Stickles in a couple of colors to give them a metallic look and distressed the brads to match. They pretty much look like rusty hinges. The image is by a Carmel, California artist named Lynn Lupetti. I love her work! This one is called "The Dragon Tamer". Don't know if this really got me out of the slump, but it felt good to at least do something!!!

How do you get out of a creative slump?

Greetings, blog visitors,

My Neopolitan challenge project

Well, I finally got serious about completing this challenge. This is an altered Wrigley's Gum tin. You find these in a lot of the stores around Christmas time with 10 packes of Wrigley's Gum inside. I love this wide ribbon with the shades of pink, white and brown. Wish I had bought several spools of it when M's had it. Anyway, here's my project!

Who woulda thunk it??

You would think that when you are the one issuing the challenge, that you would have something in mind to create, right??? WRONG!! I am having the worst time trying to decide what to create for this challenge!!! I have several ideas, but nothing is really gelling in my mind!!! Gotta get serious about this! My team mates are already posting some awesome projects!!! Way to go! They've set the bar pretty high!!!!

My first challenge project for the Sugar Sweet Paper Treats Design Team

I am so excited to be part of this new design team! So much so, that as soon as I found out what the first challenge was, this idea popped into my head and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I jumped right in and got started, and before I knew it, it was done!! I told you I was excited!!! I used Storybook to cut the letters and Doodlecharms to cut the cupcakes and candy. I used the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder on the cupcake frosting and lots of glitter!!! I wanted it all to look "sugar-coated". I took one picture before I put it in the frame because I didn't know what effect the glare on the glass would have. This project is large--8" X 16". I must confess that my dining room looks like the "morning after the Fairyland Ball"!!! I spilled the glitter everywhere and the more I tried to clean it up, the more it scattered!! haha Oh well! A little sparkle never hurt!! And now that she knows, I'll let the "cat out of the bag". I created this project as a thank you gift for our fearless leader, Cheryll, for all her hard work in putting the design team and website together! Thank you, Cheryll!!! Comments appreciated! Thanks for looking! Hugs!

Easter Challenge for Whimsical Scraps and Bugs

Our challenge this time for the Whimsical Scraps and Bugs Design Team was to create something with an Easter theme, using our Cricut and 3-5 jumbo playing cards or flash cards. Being a Christian, Easter has a deep spiritual meaning for me, so that is the theme for my entry. I used 3 jumbo playing cards, Prima flowers, pearls, ribbon and a rhinestone to create this 3-panel Easter card.

Two birthday cards

I had so much fun creating these cards today! My sincere and heartfelt thanks to Lacy Gilbertson for sharing these adorable shoe graphics with me! I LOVE them!! And my thanks to all the awesome, creative people on the Cricut Messageboard. These cards combine elements from the creations of others and I am so grateful for their inspiration! Papers are from the Pastel cardstock stack from DCWV. Cuttlebug embossing folder on the white oval, along with Nestabilities scalloped ovals. Lattice work card created with Design Studio. Flourish is from Home Decor. Prima flowers and iridescent glitter from Michael's. The cards are for two of my granddaughters. Their birthdays are 3 days apart and the party is tonight! Got these done just in the nick of time!!! Thanks for looking. Feel free to leave a comment.

A couple of projects! Please check back!

Hello, again, everyone,
I completed two birthday cards today that I think turned out pretty well. I am all ready to take pictures, but hubby took the camera with him fishing today. Once he gets home, I will photograph the cards and post them to my blog! Please check back later!

Hugs!

My new blog!

Talk about your basic blog!!! This is all brand new to me and I don't have a clue what I'm doing, but I'll try to keep learning as I go!!
